Local "Gadgets for Cash" Program Launches in Durham

Somersworth company partners with Idea Greenhouse to recycle & resell locally sourced used electronics

TradePort USA (Somersworth, NH) and Idea Greenhouse (Durham, NH) announced today a new program to offer cash for used electronic gadgets and digital equipment from Seacoast residents.

Dubbed "Gadgets for Cash," TradePort and Durham-based Idea Greenhouse are partnering to offer a locally-owned electronics trade-in program.

Under the arrangement, TradePort will process, sell, and compensate traders who bring their salable items like laptops, Apple iPods, smartphones to the Idea Greenhouse, a home and community for entrepreneurs, creatives, and innovators recently opened in Downtown Durham.

Traders can choose to contribute their resale proceeds to the Idea Greenhouse, in support of its programming and community-building.

"TradePort is a terrific story of local entrepreneurs leveraging the web to build a sustainable and successful business in the Seacoast," said Tom Elliott, founder and director of the Idea Greenhouse. "Our members love gadgets, and gadget fans will love Idea Greenhouse, so it’s perfect match. Our partnership will remove electronic waste from local landfills and bring needed resources and attention to our community growing great ideas in Downtown Durham."

"TradePort’s growth is fueled by receiving valuable used gadgets and electronics for resale," said Sam Biddle, Vice President and Co-Founder. "This is our first attempt to source quality items locally. With the Seacoast’s love of technology and strong household income, we think we can find items in our own backyard, either from Durham, UNH students, or the region at large."

People interested in the trade-in program can bring items by the Idea Greenhouse’s downtown location on Thursday mornings from 9am to 12pm, or by appointment. Helpful staff will be on hand to appraise the resale value and arrange for payment.

Residents curious about the program or the value of an item can also inquire via the Idea Greenhouse’s website. Team members will respond with an offer within 48 hours.
